
The turnover of 3.6 billion euro of the sector recorded for 2016 is mainly due to the intense exports activity: in 2016 Romanina software and IT services exports grew by 18.7% compared to 2015. In the same time, the value of the domestic market decreased by 5.7% in 2016 compared to 2015, in spite of the forecasted growth of 4.6% announced in the 3rd edition of the same report. Neverthless the annual average growth forecast of 15% for the following 3 years is maintained at a stagnation level compared the previous forecast.
The total software and IT services exports reached a value of 2.6 billion euro in 2016 – an increase of 19% compared to 2015 and representing 74% of the total sectors’ turnover. The forecasts show that exports will weigh approximatively 79% of the total sector value by 2020, in the markets’ current conditions.
As for the domestic market, that equals 25% of the total turnover of the sector, the report indicates an unexpected decrease, barely reaching 935 million euro. The internal market analysis indicates a shy evolution for the upcoming period, as the expression of a low internal technology consumption compared to the estimated need, especially that of the public sector.
