June, 2026, Cluj-Napoca. Our city is preparing for a truly tech summer, with a nice bouquet of IT events. It is time to reflect on what we have observed and understood from the visible trends and behind the scenes meetings at the leading tech events that we had the opportunity to join! There were many on the agenda, but SOFTECH engineering team managed to attend two global size conferences: CES 2026 – Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and MWC Barcelona 2026, in Spain, Europe. From our local events, we also emphasize the Digital Horizons at MINA – Museum of Immersive Arts in Cluj-Napoca, as a local twist from the global narrative.

Global Tech Events 2026

The Key Takeaway

What was different this year, was not the emergence and richness of breakthrough innovations, but the maturity of existing tech innovations. We loved tha fact that AI was no longer showcased as an isolated, futuristic technology, but as foundational layer embedded into products, services and processes. We particularly sensed the new direction of all discussions around AI: it was more about how to implement AI successfully and with purpose, across organizations and industries. We shifted to a cross-sectorial view and the technology experts seemed to provide more structure and clarity to the adopting sectors: manufacturing, services, banking, transportation and so on.

CES 2026, MWC 2026 and Local Cluj Events

Right at the beginning of the year, CES 2026 displayed AI as being integrated in everyday experiences. The magnitude of the exhibition conveyed the messaged that AI technologies will power smarter devices, autonomous systems, industrial systems and intelligent decision-making systems. Quietly, human-machine interactions became collaborative with a strong AI running in the background.

In March, MWC Barcelona 2026, confirmed the same message. Enterprise-scale organizations focus on practical AI integrations at all levels, cloud-native architectures, edge computing and cybersecurity. As tech history always points out, the most successful initiatives are the ones that prove to be useful, effective and easy to implement by most economic players.

At both events, we were particularly proud to see Romanian tech companies being an integrated part in this innovation ecosystem. Gone are the days when everything new concentrated in a few technology hubs, located in the most developed countries. Eastern Europe and Romania stood up with impressive tech skills and innovations, such as our friends from .Lumen with the “glasses for the blind” products. Our local, Cluj community joined forces and was active at these major events. Our attempt is to strengthen the brand of our Cluj Tech Community and carry forward the message about our engineering expertise and pragmatic approach on solving complex problems.

This authentic behaviour was perceivable at our local, yet international level events, where European institutions, entrepreneurs, business leaders and NGOs shared their experiences with the Transilvania European Digital Innovation Hub. Maybe it is not always obvious for someone who is out of the industry, but in Europe, the innovation network is increasingly active and self-reliant. The appetite for new partnerships, new collaborations and the willingness to risk and experiment is present in our community. That is why we are glad when investors and large research institutes ask about Cluj, Transylvania and Romania. Our team of engineers at SOFTECH │ Codespring is open and always available to explain how we work, how we learn and how we see future partnerships in the tech industry.

Optimistic AI Technology Outlook

Considering that half of this business year is already over, our journey through these top global events and through our own local events with their broader innovation ecosystem make us optimistic about the upcoming technology era. We do not think that future means replacing people with machines; we think that people will be empowered with better tools, better solutions and better opportunities for the next stage of technology.
It happened before, that non-expert industries had a setback before adopting innovative technololgies – such as AI, but then, after clarifications of use, role and standards they strategically went for adopting them in smarter ways that forecasted. It will probably, be the case of AI, too.
Under all circumstances, Codespring team powered by SOFTECH SRL, is ready to serve your business with specialized services such as: AI & intelligent systems development, industrial‑grade software Ddevelopment, cloud‑native & platform engineering, mobile development, data engineering & advanced analytics and industrial IoT & edge solutions. DevOps remain at the core of current delivery model. Naturally for advanced expert teams, we are happy to collaborate with dedicated teams and specialized services.
