Two months of intensive work culminated in internship projects presentation by the Codespring Mentoring Program’s Târgu Mureș team in early September. At Codespring | SOFTECH’s local office, nine students from Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania worked on four projects, which they presented to their university professors, their mentors from the company, and their colleagues.

An in-house internship projects presentation is always a good opportunity to summarize the work and lessons learned. At the same time, it also serves as excellent preparation for events with higher stakes, such as a conference or a state exam. This is one of the most festive moments of the summer internship provided by the Codespring Mentoring Program: the culmination of the students’ hard work over several months, followed by a joyful celebration.
In Târgu Mureș, this event was held in early September, before the start of the academic year at Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, attended by the nine IT students who participated in the corporate internship, their mentors and university professors, as well as the company’s team members.
Getting Ready for the Next Step
These projects generally reflect the students’ current level of knowledge, the amount of work they have put in, and the success of their teamwork. However, for the successful presentation of their internship projects, students must gain an even deeper understanding of how the software works so they can explain it to the audience, give a live demonstration of how their website or app functions, and provide detailed answers to the arising questions. The teams were busy preparing for this event, and their mentors, of course, gave them dedicated support.
According to O.-P. Boróka, coordinator of the mentoring program’s Târgu Mureș edition and colleague of Sapientia University, the students of the Codespring Mentoring Program performed successfully in all these areas. “There were four presentations, and we can say that the students worked hard to create high-quality presentations; they clearly took the task seriously. Of course, there were differences among the projects, but this is not surprising and can be observed every year. This is primarily due to the diversity of the project topics, and secondarily because the teams’ progress is not linear. These differences should level out by May,” she summarized her observations from the presentations.
Internship Projects’ Development Continues
As he explained, the next major milestone will be the Student Research Conference in next February at Sapientia University in Târgu Mureș. For that event the students must submit fully developed projects. “We will hold several training sessions throughout the year to help them prepare. After the conference, they will also present their projects as state exams, and the best ones might also be showcased at an international conference,” she said, outlining their future plans for the projects.
This summer, students at the Târgu Mureș office developed the following internship projects:
- Anonymizing Software: A cloud-based interface which can handle and anonymize sensitive data such as the results of various medical tests.
- Mirror 360: An internal, digital 360-degree performance evaluation system that provides an easier-to-use solution than the current Excel-based process, supporting performance management.
- FitVision: a workout assistant app that evaluates users’ exercise technique in real time using a webcam or smartphone.
- Premium household and DIY tool rentals: A platform that allows users to rent various high-value but rarely used work or DIY tools.
Project presentations traditionally concluded with a joint celebration. The event was graced by the presence of several university professors, who had the opportunity to see firsthand that the students had spent the past few months of their internships productively.
