Cluj-Napoca hits the ranks! According to Forbes Romania’s top “Best Cities for Business 2015”, Cluj-Napoca is ranked 3rd city for Business in Romania and grabs the title of “IT Paradise of Romania”. And the catchphrase goes: The development of Cluj IT sector is about to consolidate the city’s position as “economic capital of Transylvania”.

In the same top, Cluj-Napoca is framed out as a city having as main economy drivers three industry sectors: IT, manufacturing and automobile.

Notably, the existence and activity of ClujIT cluster since 2012, among the founder of which Codespring is also counted, had a great impact. Furthermore the recent establishment of Cluj Innovation Park as a future hub for innovative and high-tech businesses plays a major role in the development of the city in the direction of technology innovation and information technology.

For the actors of Cluj IT community and their business partners, the title itself is not a mere surprise. The last decade of working in software development and IT services comes to fruition. Cluj IT landscape has many shades and continues to expand: both domestic and international businesses are acting on the market. The language diversity (Romanian, Hungarian, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Serbian), the good education level of the graduating students, the proper infrastructure and the local friendly culture are all factors that built up into a high-tech business friendly providers environment.

A major factor, highlighted by KPMG consultants is the fiscal facilities allowed for programmers: “Employers that obtain their revenues from salaries as a result of computer programs creation are exempt from paying revenue taxes.”  Naturally, to this one can add the overall advantages that a country from South-Eastern Europe may offer in comparison with other geographies.

As stated in the article describing the city in Forbes online edition, the six industrial parks that host foreign investors and leading global or European companies contributed also to the general economic trade flows of Cluj – not only within the region but also with other Euorpean and pan-European regions.
